The winning streak of the film “Our Curse” continues. This documentary, directed by Tomasz Śliwiński, won the Best Documentary Short award at the Raindance festival in London, which ended last Sunday, 5 October.

This weekend, yet another award was added to the collection won by “Our Curse” by Tomasz Śliwiński. This documentary, produced by Warsaw Film School, was given the Best Documentary Short award at the Raindance festival in London. This year’s edition of the festival began on 24 September, and ended on 5 October. The award gala was held on 4 October in May Fair Hotel.

The film is a personal confession of the director, who, together with his wife, has to face a very rare, incurable disease of their new-born child - Ondine's Curse (congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, CCHS). People afflicted with this disease stop breathing during sleep and require life-long use of respirator to support their respiratory functions. The director documents the first months of his family's life after the birth of the child. At the beginning, the boy is still in hospital, but soon comes home with the entire medical equipment, necessary for his life. The film shows the process of getting accustomed to the fear related to this disease and the gradual adaptation to this new situation.

It is worth mentioning that yet another Polish film was awarded at the Raindance festival - “Kebab & Horoscope” by Grzegorz Jaroszuk was chosen the Best Debut Feature. Jaroszuk is the authour of award winning "Frozen stories".
