Another international success for Natalia Koniarz’s “Silver”.The documentary received a Special Mention in the Global Docs competition at the 21st DocsMX – International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City. This marks the second Polish film to be recognised at this year’s festival in Mexico. Earlier, we reported on the success of Paweł Chorzępa’s “The Tuners”, which won the Jury Prize in the Fragmentos Internacionales competition.
DocsMX is one of the leading documentary film festivals in Mexico and Latin America. Established in 2006, the festival serves as a platform for showcasing and promoting non-fiction cinema, while also supporting film education, audience development and international collaboration within the documentary community. The 21st edition, held from October 22 to 31, brought together films from around the world competing across seven sections.
The recognition in Mexico comes just days after another major announcement concerning Koniarz’s documentary. “Silver” was shortlisted for the IDA Documentary Awards in the Best Feature Documentary category, joining a selection of just 16 films in contention for a nomination at the awards presented by the International Documentary Association.
Since its world premiere at the 65th Krakow Film Festival, Natalia Koniarz’s feature-length debut has received more than twenty awards and distinctions.
The film is a Polish-Finnish-Norwegian co-production, with Maciej Kubicki of Telemark serving as its Polish producer. KFF Sales handles the documentary’s international festival distribution.
