POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN JANUARY

Not much is happening in the world of international film festivals in the first half of January, but we will get to see several Polish documentaries at large events held near the end of the month. Be sure to check out which productions are up for awards.

The next edition of FIPADOC International Documentary Festival begins on 20 January. The program of this French event features The Fledglings by Lidia Duda and Jakub Gomółka's short documentary Father.Son

It's more than our short films that are travelling to Slamdance. The feature-length documentary Silent Love by Marek Kozakiewicz will also make an appearance. Polish cinema will also be represented at FIPADOC International Documentary Festival. In Italy, the audience will get a chance to watch The Hamlet Syndrome by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski. This award-winning documentary is also going to visit the BIDF Budapest International Documentary Festival in Hungary.

The end of the month will bring Festival Internacional de Cine Documental Miradasdoc where the audience and jury are going to watch Waiting Room by Aleksandra Folczak. In turn, the DocPoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival begins in Finland on 31 January. The program includes screenings of three Polish documentaries – The Herd by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała, Silence Heard Loud by Anna Konik, and Boylesque by Bogna Kowalczyk.
