POLISH PROJECTS AT EAST DOC PLATFORM

Late last year, we learned the list of documentary projects that have qualified to appear at East Doc Platform and East Doc Market. The list of selected titles also includes Polish projects.

East Doc Platform is a documentary-focused industry event organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague and accompanying the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

The upcoming edition will be held on 24–30 March 2023. During the event, numerous awards are handed out to the best projects still in development phase among all those participating in East Doc Platform.

East Doc Forum has been created with those producers in mind who work on projects in development or production phase and are looking for financing. The East European Forum will include 5-day workshops, as well as a pitch session, one-to-one meetings, and discussions.

There is a Polish production among the projects selected for this program:

Insurance Against Meteorites (dir. Natalia Śliwowska, Jorik Galama, produced by Kasia Kuczyńska, Haka Films, PL)

Since her brother died in a mysterious car accident, Natalia has grown up under the weight of her mother's obsession with his unsolved death. Twenty years later, she sets out to find the truth.

We'd also like to bring up projects invited to Ex Oriente Film. They will be presented in the East Doc Forum 2023 program. The list also includes Polish projects:

December (dir. Grzegorz Paprzycki, produced by Piotr Śmiechowski, Telemark, PL)

A story about borders, migrants and refugees. The director takes us right into the middle of a border crisis.

Young Blood (dir. Agata Baumgart, produced by Grzegorz Pacek, Mokry Nos Psa, PL)

In this documentary, the director gives voice to adolescent girls who are in mental crisis and struggling to enter adulthood.

Several Polish projects have also been invited to East Doc Market 2023:

Flowers of Ukraine (dir. Adelina Borets, produced by Glib Lukianets, Gogol Film, PL, UA)
Four Winters in Edificio Cuba (dir. Aleksandra Maciuszek, produced by Aleksandra Maciuszek, New Plot Films, PL) – awarded at DocsBarcelona 2022
