POLISH FILMS AT THE MESSAGE TO MAN FESTIVAL

On the 14th of September starts the Russian Message to Man International Film Festival. In the rich programme of the event, there are several Polish productions and the retrospective of Izabela Plucińska.

The Message to Man International Film Festival was created in 1989, and currently, it is considered one of the most important and the most popular Russian film festivals. Initially, the event was dedicated only to documentary films, but with time the organisers decided to expand the programme, and since 1994, they have widened the pool of awards by opening their door also to short films.

This year, the best documentary film award may go to the film "The Wind.  A Documentary Thriller"     by Michał Bielawski.  The film's protagonist is the halny wind - one of the most unpredictable forces in the Polish mountains. It appears cyclically every spring and autumn. You can never know if and when it would turn into a destructive windstorm. The halny wind affects particularly the inhabitants of Zakopane and its surrounding area, changing the picturesque mountain trails into the space ruled by uncontrollable nature.

In turn, in the short documentary film category, there are as many as two Polish films: "Connected" by Aleksandra Maciejczyk and "The Briefing" by Filip Drzewicki. Both productions are debuts. Just like the animated film "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska, competing for the best short animated film award at the festival.

In the non-competing section, you can watch "In Touch" by Paweł Ziemilski, and Izabela Plucińska will have her retrospective. In the programme, there are six films by the talented animated film-maker. You can read more about it here.

The 29th edition of the festival is held from the 14th to the 21st of September.
