"SHOOTING STARS" AWARDED A SPECIAL MENTION AT THE ONE SHOT FESTIVAL
On the 13th of June, the award-winners of the "ONE SHOT" International Short Film Festival in Armenia were announced. Among the appreciated films, there is the Polish-German co-production "Shooting Stars" by Magda Jaroszewicz.
The festival "One Shot" in Armenia was founded in 2003 in order to promote independent cinema. During the festival, films are presented in three competitions and special sections. At this year’s festival, one of the award-winning films is the short documentary film "Shooting Stars" by Magda Jaroszewicz.
The film received a special mention in the competition "Cinema Without Borders." The documentary film was appreciated for its subtle depiction of the problems of the co-existence of European citizens and immigrants.
In the film "Shooting Stars," the viewers participate in the observation of one night on one street. They see only what they can imagine, they hear only what they want to hear. The distanced eye brings the images closer and sharpens them, but their interpretation remains in the mind of the observer. Everyone will derive their own story from this observation. You can discuss its contents according to your own experiences, remembering how strongly we are involved in the manipulation of the media and other external stimuli. The starting point is the image, generated in the observer's mind. The observer is a guide but it is the viewer who gives meaning to this night.
