“Goldfish” awarded at the Cronograf Festival

On the 16th May, the eighth edition of the International Documentary Film Festival CRONOGRAF in Moldova ended. From 27 films coming from 26 countries, the international jury selected the winners – among them, Tomasz Wolski, the director of the documentary “Goldfish”.

This year’s edition of the International Documentary Film Festival CRONOGRAF presented to the Moldavian audience a full range of documentary films from all quarters of the Earth. Among them, there are also Polish ones: “Music Partisans” by Mirosław Dembiński and “Goldfish” by Tomasz Wolski, who was honoured with the Best Director award. 

The documentary by Tomasz Wolski depicts the everyday life of the charges of the community home, who are preparing for the theatre performance of the fairy tale “The Goldfish”. This is a story about the colourful world of the handicapped, about their little dreams: Kamil wants to get a driving licence for lift; Marek dreams about antenna, Michał cannot imagine life without cleaning, while Witek hates cleaning and that’s why he wants to become a porter, and Adaś wants to portray the goldfish in the play very well.

“The Goldfish” has been awarded at several festivals, Polish as well as foreign. The most important laurels include: Wroclaw Film Award at the International Film Festival Era New Horizons in 2008, the Audience’s Award at the 48th Krakow Film Festival, Grand Prix at the Camera Obscura Fetival in 2009, and the Award of the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture at Cinefest in 2009.
