POLISH DOCS AT FESTIVALS IN MARCH
With the beginning of spring, Polish documentary films wake up to the festival life. In March, we will see them, among others, at the festival One World in the Czech Republic and at the Docudays in Ukraine.
Still in February started Washington Jewish Film Festival, at which among the films qualified for the competition, there is the film "The Dybbuk. A Tale of Wandering Souls" by Krzysztof Kopczyński. A week later, also in the United States, the audience will have a chance to watch the documentary film "Love, love" by Grzegorz Zariczny.
March is a busy month for the film "The End of the World" by Monika Pawluczuk. The documentary film will appear at the festival Bergamo Film Meeting in Italy, Amdocs - American Documentary Film Festival in the USA and at the Docudays in Ukraine. In the United States, "The End of the World" will participate in the competition, together with "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec, whereas in Ukraine, Poland will be represented also by "Brothers" by Wojciech Staroń and "Casa Blanca" by Aleksandra Maciuszek.
"Casa Blanca," in addition to the screening in Ukraine, will face also competition struggles at two French festivals: Ojoloco Sur Le Cinéma Ibérique et Latino-Américain de Grenoble and International Women’s Film Festival Creteil.
Over the last few months, Polish documentary films had many successes at mountain film festivals. In March, there is a chance for another success, this time for the film "The Place" by Julia Popławska, which will be available at Dutch Mountain Film Festival in the Netherlands. The documentary film will also participate in Ann Arbor Film Festival in the United States.
In the first half of March, Polish documentary films will compete for the awards at One World International Human Rights Film Festival in the Czech Republic. In Prague, you can see the films "Call Me Marianna" by Karolina Bielawska and "Super Unit."
The documentary film by Teresa Czepiec will also appear at the Green Point Film Festival in the United States and in the programme of Polish short films at the International Short Film Week Regensburg. Apart from it, the following films will be shown: "The Whistle" by Grzegorz Zariczny, "Left Side of the Face" by Marcin Bortkiewicz, "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński, "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec and "Object" by Paulina Skibińska.
The festival record-breaker "Object" will not confine itself to one screening in March, either. We will see the film by Paulina Skibińska two more times this month: at Regard - Festival International Du Court Métrage Au Saguenay in Canada and at Mecal Pro - Barcelona International Short and Animation Festival in Spain. At the latter, apart from "Object," the film "Figure" by Katarzyna Gondek qualified for the competition. In the second half of the month, the viewers in the United States will watch "Invisible" by Zofia Pręgowska at Fargo Film Festival.
"A Documentary Film" does not have time for rest in March, either. In addition to aforementioned screenings, it will also be shown at Holland Animation Film Festival in the Netherlands and at Vilnius International Film Festival "Kino Pavasaris" in Lithuania. It is there where you can also see the film "Piano" by Vita Maria Drygas. The second documentary film "Knife in the wife" by Vita Maria Dryas will vie in the competition at the International Short Film Festival Bunter Hund in Germany.
