"THE GOOD CHANGE" IN THESSALONIKI

The list of projects qualified for the pitching Docs in Thessaloniki has been announced. Among the selected films, there is a Polish production: "The Good Change" by Konrad Szołajski.

The pitching Docs in Thessaloniki is an international pitching forum, organised by EDN, which accompanies Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival.

Docs in Thessaloniki does not include only the pitching itself, but also workshops which prepare for it. The event lasts 5 days - from March 16 to 20. The first three days will be dedicated to work on the development of selected projects. The participants of the workshops will work in small groups under the guidance of experts, and they will concentrate on the structure and subject matter of the project and on pitching techniques. During the last two days, the pitching itself will take place, and after it, individual meetings with experts.

This year, approximately 100 submissions came to Docs in Thessaloniki, out of which the selection panel chose 21 projects. Among them, there is a Polish documentary film "The Good Change," directed by Konrad Szołajski. The film's producer is Małgorzata Prociak.

"The Good Change" documents the situation in Poland after the elections, which were held in the autumn of 2015. Law and Justice comes to power, a political party with right-wing views, instantly implementing the programme of state reform under the slogan "the good change." Just as quickly, mainly due to social media, Committee for the Defence of Democracy arises, which considers the actions of the new government incompatible with the constitution and the principles of a democratic state.

We will show this phenomenon, looking closely both at the members of the Committee for the Defence of Democracy, and at politicians from Law and Justice, finding out what motivates them and what they want to achieve in the circumstances of escalating conflict, which sharply divides the Polish society, assure the film-makers of "The Good Change."

It is worthwhile to mention that it is the third time when Konrad Szołajski participates in the pitching Docs in Thessaloniki, in 2013 in Greece he presented the project of the film "The Battle with Satan," and even earlier, he presented the documentary film "And God created sex."
