AUGUST AT FESTIVALS

August is a holiday season in Europe and few film festivals are held worldwide. Nevertheless, audiences at this month's six international festivals will have the opportunity to see five Polish documentary productions.

Among Polish documentaries, Paweł Ziemilski's 'Rogalik' will be the one most frequently shown abroad in August. Produced by the film school of Łódź, the student project will take part in competitive sections at two festivals: the International Film Festival in Monterey, Mexico and the São Paulo International Short Film Festival in Brazil. It will also be presented during the out-of-competition programme at the Uno Port Art Films festival in Japan.

Polish documentary productions will be shown at August's festivals in Europe as well. Two films from Poland were admitted to competition at the Dokufest Kosovo: 'My House Without Me' by Magdalena Szymków and 'The Art of Disappearing' – the latest film from award-winning duo – Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski. Grzegorz Zariczny's 'The Whistle', which won the main prize at the Sundance festival, is going to contend for awards in Serbia. The film will be shown at the Cinema City International Film Festival. Meanwhile, the audience at the della Lessinia festival in Italy will have the chance to watch 'Far from the City' directed by Maciej Cuske. The film will be screened out of competition.
