THREE POLISH PROJECTS AT EAST DOC FORUM

Three Polish projects have been selected for the anniversary 25th edition of East Doc Forum – the largest and longest-running pitching platform for documentary filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe. This year, 21 feature-length documentaries and documentary series in development or early production have been chosen for presentation before international decision-makers during the East Doc Platform in Prague.

There are three projects from Poland among the selected titles. The first is The Enchantress, currently in production, directed by Martyna Peszko (produced by Alicja Gancarz / Match and Spark, Poland–Lithuania). Through a portrait of 94-year-old Teresa Godlewska – a woman who has turned her own life into a work of art – the film becomes a story about freedom, femininity, and the radical necessity of maintaining curiosity about the world until the very end.

A significant portion of this year's selection has been developed within the year-long Ex Oriente Film workshop – the Institute's flagship training programme, supporting emerging filmmakers in collaboration with established documentary professionals. All teams will present their projects on 24 March 2026 in Prague, followed by individual meetings with producers, distributors, and festival representatives.

The two other projects are currently participating in this programme. Dekonstrukt by Mateusz Góra and Kamil Wilk (produced by Piotr Śmiechowski / Telemark) follows three rebellious queer Gen Z artists who create a collective to serve as a safe space for marginalised communities and dream of uniting people into one shared organism. Meanwhile House in a Bottle, directed by Anna Morawiec (produced by Agata Jujeczka / Vision House), currently in development, offers an intimate confession from five individuals who were forced to grow up too quickly as children and remain children as adults.

Participation in East Doc Forum also means participation in a year-long follow-up support programme, which provides filmmakers with further opportunities for development and forging international partnerships at Europe's most important festivals and industry events.
