Polish documentary awarded in Kazan

Beata Dzianowicz was given an award for the film “Kites” at the International Festival Muslim Cinema ”Golden Minbar” in Russia.

The documentary tells the story about film course “Kabul – my city”, which took place in Art School in Kabul. The students were given cameras and help from Polish director, Jacek Szarański. And nothing more. They came up with the ideas themselves. They turned their cameras to the closest everyday life – to neighbours’ children, all-present kites, and on themselves. In this way, the kites became the record of contemporary Kabul from the perspective of Afghan teenager. And it is also a story of new-born film passion, the difficulty of asking questions and courage of listening to the answers.
