Piotr Stasik’s film in Beirut

The documentary film “Ponad chodnikami” (“Above the Pavements”) has been qualified for the International Documentary Film Festival DocuDays in Beirut.

The film tells the story of 18-year-old boy – pianist, who develops his talent in a small mountainside village. The first part describes his intimate world, the world of sound and incredible sensitivity which makes the boy feel like a changeling alienated from the world. The second part tells about his trip to Warsaw, where he takes part in workshops and piano lessons. Undoubtedly, the photography and the absence of dialogue are the greatest advantages of the film, which tries to render the boy’s inner world without telling unnecessary stories.

“Above the Pavements” has been produced by the Film Group Paladino, TVP 1 and Andrzej Wajda Master  School of Film Directing in cooperation with Polish Film Institute.

Piotr Stasiak, the film’s director, is the author of documentaries: “One by One”, “7xMoscow”, “Andrzej Wajda: Let’s Shoot”. Read the interview with the documentary’s cameraman, Piotr Niemyski, here.
