POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AWARDED AT THE MILLENIUM DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY

We already know the first winners of the 17th edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity. This year's edition of the festival is special, because the festival is a hybrid event. Thanks to this, new Polish documentaries had the opportunity to appear in cinemas for the first time.

Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival is one of the largest documentary film festivals in Poland. It is the only film festival in Europe that takes place simultaneously in seven different cities (Warsaw, Gdynia, Wrocław, Katowice, Bydgoszcz, Lublin and starting in 2020, Poznań).

This year, the Polish Competition was organized for the first time, which was an excellent opportunity for new Polish documentaries to be presented on the big screen. The main prize in the newly created competition went to "Between Us" directed by Dorota Proba. The honorable mention went to "Let's Try To Jump Into The Well" by Piotr Stasik and Dorota Wardęszkiewicz. 12 films were judged by a jury composed of: Marek Hovorka - director of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, director Joanna Kos-Krauze, director Paweł Łoziński and Brigid O'Shea, cooperating with the festival DOK Leipzig.

On the other hand, the Smakjam Award for the Best Production in the Polish Competition went to Pokromski Studio for the film "Whale of Lorino" by Maciej Cuske. And the Award of the "Zwierciadło" monthly for the Best Film on Psychological Themes went to the directors of the film "Lesson of Love", namely Kasia Matei and Małgorzata Goliszewska.
