MARCH AT THE FESTIVALS

With the beginning of spring, Polish documentary films wake up to the festival life. In March, as many as 16 Polish films will feature on 25 screenings within the frames of 15 international film festivals.

Polish documentary film was already successful at the beginning of the month. Special Mention given by the Jury of the International Competition at the Zagreb Dox festival, which ended on 1 March, went to "Something better to come" by Hanna Polak. Also, "The Place" by Julia Popławska and "Werka" by Paweł Łoziński were also shown in the capital of Croatia. The documentary film "Sati" by Bartłomiej Świderski also participated in the competition at the Dutch Mountain Film Festival. 

"Something better to come" will also appear, together with "The Queen of Silence" by Agnieszka Zwiefka, in the competition section of Tempo Documentary Festival in Sweden. "The Queen of Silence" will also visit the Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic and the Vilnius International Film Festival, Lithuania. "Object" by Paulina Skibińska and "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak will also be shown there. However, these are not the only screenings of these documentary films: "Object" will also appear at the Tampere festival in Finland, and "Starting Point" at DocuDays in Ukraine. The festival, held in Kiev, invited also "Deep Love" and "Werka" to participate in competition screenings. The documentary by Paweł Łoziński will be also available at the Carnegie Mellon festival in Pittsburgh.

 "Our Curse"  by Tomasz Śliwiński, nominated for the Academy Award, will be shown twice in March. Both screenings will be held in the USA - the first one at the festival in Boulder, and the second one in Cleveland. "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec will also be shown at two festivals: at the French Film d'Aubagne and at Bergamo Film Meeting. "To Fly or Not to Fly" by Aniela Gabryel will be also shown in Italy.  In the USA, there will be the screening of the film "Sometimes I Dream I'm Flying"  by Aneta Popiel-Machnicka, at the Green Mountain Film Festival.

Last days of March will pass under the sign of Dok. Leipzig and Lake Festival in India. Three Polish films are invited to participate in the festival: "Joanna" by Aneta Kopacz, "A Diary of A Journey" by Piotr Stasik and "When I am a Bird" by Monika Pawluczuk. The month ends with the screening of the film "Abu Haraz" by Maciej J.  Drygas at the Millenium International Festival in Belgium.
