POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AT THE 11TH PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL

11th Planete+ Doc Film Festival will take place from 9 to 18 May in two Polish cities: Warsaw and Wrocław. In various competitive sections, 11 Polish documentary films will be screened. The audience will also have opportunity to watch Polish documentaries included in non-competitive sections and in the retrospective of Jacek Bławut.

During this year's edition, the audience will see over 150 best documentary films from the entire world, and over 70 filmmakers (including directors, producers, DOPs) and protagonists of the films screened at the festival will visit Warsaw and Wrocław. The screenings in both cities will be accompanied by, among others, debates, meetings with filmmakers, exhibitions, concerts and music events, workshops and lectures. In addition, within the frames of the "weekend with the festival PLANETE+ DOC" (16-18 May), the festival will be held also in studio cinemas in over 20 cities in Poland.

At the festival, which began the career of "Rabbit a la Berlin" by Bartek Konopka, there will be a wealth of excellent Polish films. An exceptional event will be the retrospective of the works by Jacek Bławut - the first in history such an extensive retrospective of one of the most eminent character in contemporary Polish documentary film, the author of films such as: "Born Dead", "Rat in A Crown", "The Warrior" or "Man At War".  It will also be an original, author's look at the works by Jacek Bławut - the retrospective includes not only documentary films made by him, but also films by his students (Tomasz Wolski, Maciej Cuske and Jacek Piotr Bławut) and these in which he featured as an actor or worked as a cameraman (such as  "The Decalogue" by Krzysztof Kieślowski and "Inner Life" by Marek Koterski). 28 films will be shown in Warsaw, in cinema Iluzjon, not in chronological order, but within the frames of 10 thematic blocks (the so-called meetings). After selected screenings, Jacek Bławut and his guests (such as Marek Koterski) will meet with the viewers. The audience of the festival PLANETE+ DOC in Wrocław will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the director's works. Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe in Wrocław will show 7 films from the extensive retrospective, and within the series "PLANETE+ DOC Masters,” after the screening of films "Man At War" and "Cyrk Skalskiego" (Skalski's Circus), Jacek Bławut will give a lecture.

The programme of this year's edition of the festival PLANETE + DOC includes (shown often as world premières) the latest films by outstanding Polish directors. In 11 international competitions the following films will take part:

- "Three Women" by Anna Jadowska (Poland 2013, 72 min)- in the competition for the Magic Hour Award for the best medium-length film and in the competition for PLANETE+ DOC Academy Award, given by young jury to the best medium-length film;

- "Minkowski I Saga" by Rafael Lewandowski (Poland 2013, 85 min) in the competition for the Chopin's Nose Award for the best music film;

- "Walking Under Water" by Eliza Kubarska (United Kingdom, Poland 2014, 76 min) - the main competition for the Millennium Award for the best feature-length film and the competition Canon Cinematography Award for the author of the best picture;

- "C.K.O.D.2 - Evacuation Plan" by Piotr Szczepański (Poland 2014, 60 min.) - competition for the Magic Hour Award and the Chopin's Nose Award; the screening of the film ""C.K.O.D.2 - Evacuation Plan" will be accompanied by the first part of the film "Generation C. K. O. D. " (Poland 2004, 57 min);

- "1989” by Michał Bielawski (Poland 2014, 54 min) - the Magic Hour competition,

- "Bard” by Katarzyna Kościelak (Poland 2013, 91 min) - Chopin's Nose competition,

- "Leaders” by Paweł Ferdek (Poland 2013, 50 min) - Magic Hour competition.

In the non-competing section at PLANETE+ DOC, the following films will be shown:

- "The Cabaret of Death” by Andrzej Celiński (Poland 2014, 94 min) - film section PLANETE+ DOC Special, presenting films which transcend traditional film genres,

- "Neon” by Erik Bednarski (Poland 2014, 52 min) - the film section "The City's Ours",

- "My 89 Generation" by Paweł Jóźwiak-Rodan (Poland 2014, 64 min) –- the film section "25 years have gone by,"

- "I'm Pole" by Paweł Hejbudzki (Poland 2013, 17 min)- the film section "I rebel therefore I am,"

- "The First Day" by Christine Jezior and Sabina Kaluza (Germany, Poland 2014, 82 min) - the film section "25 years have gone by,"

- "The Park” by Dorota and Monika Proba (Turkey, Poland 2014, 34 min) - the film section "I rebel therefore I am,”

- "Sieniawka” by Marcin Malaszczak (Poland, Germany 2013, 126 min) - the film section "Intimate stories,"

- "Bydgoszcz from Dawn till Dusk” (various artists) (Poland 2013/2014, 50 min) - the film section "The City's Ours",

- "Curtains" by Andrzej Fidyk (Poland 1990, 45 min) - the film section "25 years have gone by."

You can buy the tickets in Kinoteka in Warsaw and in Dolnośląskie Centrum Kultury in Wrocław and on the websites www.kinoteka.pl, www.iluzjon.fn.org.pl and www.dfc.wroclaw.pl from 1st  May. The tickets will be sold in the Iluzjon cinema in Warsaw from 4th May.
