MICHAŁ MARCZAK NOMINATED FOR THE SPOTLIGHT AWARD
In January 2014 in New York, the Cinema Eye Honors award ceremony will take place, which is dedicated to the best documentary productions. “Fuck for Forest” directed by Michał Marczak is one of the films nominated in the Spotlight Award category.
Michał Marczak’s latest documentary “Fuck for Forest” has been nominated for the Cinema Eye Honors in the Spotlight Award category, created for all the very good films, which haven’t yet been presented to a big audience, but are worth to be noticed. The other films nominated in this category are: Dave Carrol’s “Bending Steel”, Sophie Huber’s “Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction”, “The Last Station” by Cristian Soto and Catalina Vergara, “The Search for Emak Bakia” by Oskar Algeria and Marta Cunningham’s “Valentine Road”.
Fuck for Forest is quite an unusual NGO, its motto states: ‘Sex can save the world’. FFF raises money for their environmental cause by selling home-made porn via the Internet. Meet Danny, a 24-year-old, who ignores the social norms and joins Fuck for Forest. Sexual liberation merges here with global altruism. Their extravagant behaviour provokes the European middle class. From the streets of Berlin to the depths of the Amazon, together they are on their sexual and ecological mission. With buying the land still untouched by the human industry, they’re trying to save the endangered tribes from the Western World.
The Cinema Eye Honors awards have been given to the best documentary films Since 2008. For the film to be nominated, it has to be first presented at one of the following film festivals: Sundance, Berlin, True/False, SXSW, Full Frame, Tribeca, Hot Docs, Cannes, Silverdocs, Los Angeles, Toronto, Sheffield and IDFA. The candidates for the Cinema Eye Honors awards are chosen by the representatives of the big documentary film festivals, and the winners are picked every year by about 200 people from the documentary film industry, invited to vote by Cinema Eye.
