POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AWARDED IN CHICAGO

The Polish Film Festival in America ended last Sunday in Chicago. Five Polish documentary films have been awarded: "Entangled", "The Strategist", "A Promise of Childhood", "Love" and "The Fourth Partition".

The main prize of the festival, the Golden Teeth Award for the best documentary, went to the film ”Entangled” directed by Lidia Duda. The jury of the 25th Polish Film Festival appreciated the exceptional artistic qualities of the film "The Strategist" directed by Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska by hororing it with the Special Award. Another Special Award, given by the President of the festival for special qualities of universal character, went this year to Piotr Morawski and Ryszard Kaczyński, among many others, for their film "A Promise of Childhood". The Festival's President has also honored two fiction films. The Discovering Eye award for the most promising young documentary film director was given ex aequo to Filip Dzierżawski for the film "Love" and Adrian Prawica for "The Fourth Partition".

The Polish Film Festival in America is the biggest regular Polish cultural event outside of Poland with the widest variety of Polish films. During the 25th edition over 70 films of Polish filmmakers were presented. The guests of the festival participated in multiple discussion panels, meetings with the audience and radio and television interviews. The festival met with great interest of the viewers and on many screenings in five film spots in Chicago there was a full house.
