“THE CONVERSATION” ACKNOWLEDGED IN ITALY
On Saturday, 30 November, in the Sicilian city of Acireale, the Magma short film festival ended. The jury of the festival have noticed "The Conversation", a documentary directed by Piotr Sułkowski.
Piotr Sułkowski's film "The Conversation" was presented in the documentary competition at the Italian short film festival Magma, which ended last weekend. The jury of the festival, including Babak Karimi (Iran), Irene Ferri (Italy) and Matt Lloyd (Great Britain) appreciated the experimental qualities of "The Conversation". As the film was not participating in the experimental competition, it couldn't have received an award in this category. However, the jury pointed out, "Sułkowski uses the tool of cinema to create the first meeting of two people well-known to one another, yet who cannot meet". They described the film as a "humane experiment in the art of cinema".
The protagonists of "The Conversation" are Janusz, who is serving a life sentence in prison, and Agnieszka sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment. They'd met eight yeas before the film was made by writing letters to each other. Until the motion picture was shot, they had never seen each other.
