„CHARCOAL BURNERS” AND ITS SUCCESS IN SICILY

It is the eighth time this year that “Charcoal Burners” – short documentary film directed by Piotr Złotorowicz – won the prize. However, it is the first time it triumphed at Italian festival!


At recently finished EfeboCorto Film Festival Piotr Złotorowicz was given the main prize in student film category for his short documentary “Charcoal Burners”.


“Charcoal Burners” success story begun in 2010 in Estonia where the film was considered as the best short documentary. Afterwards Złotorowicz’s etude was awarded in Sankt Petersburg, Croatia and three times in France. The film has been collecting the prizes overseas. At the REGARD festival in Canadian Saguenay it was given the Award for the Best Documentary whereas in the USA it appeared on the podium three times: at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival (Grand Jury Award For Short), Taos Shortz Film Fest (Award for the Best Documentary) and at the Kansas City FilmFest (Award for the Best International Short Documentary).


“Charcoal Burners” is a story about Marek and Janina who work every summer in the Bieszczady mountains making charcoal. Far from civilization, they live in the midst of the mountains following the rhythm dictated by nature.
