POLISH PROJECT WINS TWO AWARDS IN JIHLAVA

Presented at the Ji.Hlava New Visions Forum, the latest project by Lidia Duda came back from the Czech Republic with the main award and the Taskovski award.

Ji.hlava New Visions Forum&Market is a special trade fair and forum organised on the occasion of the 25th Ji.Hlava Festival. This event aims to support new European documentary productions in their diversity and creativity.

A pitching took place as part of the Ji.hlava New Visions Forum, presenting only 16 selected projects from Europe. One project from Poland made it into the selection. It was Lidia Duda's winning Forest, produced by Adrianna Rędzia and Aleksandra Ostatkiewicz of Aura Films.

Joasia and Marek ran away from the evils of the world into their “paradise” – they bought an old house in the Białowieża Forest, right by Poland's eastern border. Three children come into this world – Marysia, Ignacy, and Franek. The children grow up surrounded by nature. They have happy childhoods. A loving mom and a caring father. But one day their forest changes. Strangers show up. Outsiders. Cold, often sick, hungry, lost, unwanted… refugees. And then another word appears in the children's conversations – “war”. Big politics knocks at their door, and they can't handle it. They have to redefine good and evil.
