“THE WALL OF SHADOWS” WINS AT ANOTHER FESTIVAL

Eliza Kubarska's film was once again appreciated at an international mountain film festival. This time the story of the Sherpa family stole the hearts of jurors at the BBK Mendi Film Bilbao-Bizkaia.

BBK Mendi Film Bilbao-Bizkaia (International Mountain and Adventure Film Festival) is a film event devoted only to productions about mountains and mountaineering. The program includes films about experimental climbing trips or stories about mountaineers and naturalists passionate about mountains.

The documentary by Eliza Kubarska was one of the films invited to the competitive section of this year's festival. The film delighted the jurors and won the event.

The award-winning The Wall of Shadows tells the story of a family of Sherpas – Nepali porters – who break a taboo by taking part in an expedition to Kumbhakarna – the holy mountain of the Sherpas. It's the only way to earn money for their son’s education and save him from dangerous work in the mountains. World's best mountaineers take part in the expedition to one of the most difficult mountains in the world, reaching almost 8,000 meters. The holy mountain confronts both the climbers and Sherpas with equal harshness.
