POLISH DOCUMENTARY AWARDED IN PERM
At the recently finished International Documentary Film Festival “Flahertiana” in Perm in Russia a wide range of Polish documentaries was presented. Several of them took part in the competition as well and – what is more – several of them received the main prizes.
International Documentary Film Festival “Flahertiana” were held from the 14th to the 19th of October in Perm in Russia. Currently, it is believed that this event is the most interesting presentation of the documentary cinema and the modern philosophy of reality’s documentation. The organizers with the leadership of festival director, Paweł Pieczonek, appreciate the output of Polish documentary cinema, considering it as the best example of worldwide cinema nowadays.This is not the first time that at the „Flahertiana” festival there have been the large amount of Polish documentaries. During this year’s edition the audience in Perm had the opportunity to watch, for instance: „Side-track” by Anna Kazejak, „Chasm” by Wojciech Kasperski or „Six Weeks” by Marcin Janos Krawczyk.
Among the guest invited to Perm there were the director of the Krakow Film Festival, Krzysztof Gierat, and the director of Dragon Forum, Dorota Roszkowska, who presented the Polish cinema system functioning. Furthermore, Dorota Roszkowska gave the lecture devoted to the international co-production forms and the ways of documentary production financing in the world.
For the best short film prize “Silver Nanook” was awarded to film director Paweł Łoziński for the film “Chemo”. Special Jury Mention for creating a vivid and expressive story on the screen with minimal means was awarded to film director Michał Marczak for the film “At the Edge of Russia”. Also, Special Jury Mention for humor and kindness was awarded to film director Marcin Sauter for the film “North From Calabria”.
