JAKUB RADEJ IN EFP FUTURE FRAMES
A Poland's representative Jakub Radej is among 10 young filmmakers to watch in the 4th edition of EFP Futura Frames at Karlovy Vary MFF.
Jakub Radej graduated from the Krzysztof Kieslowski Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia in Katowice and was a participant of the DOK.PRO documentary programme at Wajda School. He is a director and screenwriter of short fiction and documentary films and music videos. His short documentary "Dust" ("Proch") has won awards at over 15 festivals across the world, among them the best documentary film award in the LAB Competition at the 40th MFF in Clermont-Ferrand.
The festival in Karlovy Vary will present his short fiction film "Sweet Home Czyżewo", which was produced at the Krzysztof Kieslowski Faculty of Radio and Television.
"A day in the life of a young man who comes back to his hometown after a 3-year-long economic migration in the USA to open his own business. Marcin has got know-how and dollars for the start but will he manage to restore his relation with his old sweetheart Krysia?" - we read on the film's website.
Jakub Radej wrote, directed and coedited the film. The DOP was Józefina Gocman. Leading actors were Adam Bobik and Angelika Kurowska, and the artistic supervisor - Michał Rosa. It is worth mentioning that "Sweet Home Czyżewo" won the special prize during the 42nd Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
The 4th edition of EFP Future Frames will take place during the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, July 1 - 4. The films were selected by the Artistic Director of the KVIFF Karel Och and the Program Coordinator Anna Purkrabkova
The new festival and EFP's initiative is meant to promote young European filmmakers among the film industry professionals and journalists. During EFP Future Frames 10 young directors will present their film school achievements and meet with the audience. They will also take part in the most interesting industry events and master classes prepared especially for them.
