POLISH DOCUMENTARY FILMS AWARDED AT GDAŃSK DOCFILM FESTIVAL

On Sunday, 8th June the Closing Gala of the 12th Gdańsk DocFilm Festival was held in Gdańsk. Among the winners of the festival, there are three Polish documentary productions.

The Jury of the 12th Gdańsk DocFilm Festival consisting of: the chairman Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Eva Weber and Professor Mirosław Przylipiak honoured the film "Joanna" by Aneta Kopacz with one of three Small Statuettes - Gates of Freedom. The jury appreciated the film "for the warm, intimate and non-sentimental portrait of a family dealing with death. For  the skillful observation and approach  to the human relations  in such a dramatic situation. For handling it without pathos and respecting the borders of human integrity."

The Public Award went to the film "Fish'r'us" by Maciej Głowinski.  In addition, this year the festival jury for the first time nominated Polish filmmakers for the Jan Machulski Young Cinema Award (More about the award: http://janmachulski.pl )  From among all Polish documentary films participating in the main competition, the Jury of the 12th Gdańsk DocFilm Festival selected the nominees in the following categories:

- best documentary:  "Joanna," by Aneta Kopacz
- best cinematography: "A Dream In The Making," cinematography by Mateusz Skalski 
- best editing: "A Dream In The Making," editing by Jerzy Zawadzki
