A list of projects qualified for East European Forum which will be held in March in Prague has just been announced. There are two Polish projects on the list: “Trans-Reaction” by Sławomir Grunberg and Katka Reszke and “Whale from Lorino” by Maciej Cuske.

East European Forum is one of the events organized within the frames of East Doc Platform – an annual meeting that focuses on supporting documentary filmmaking at different production stages and will be held in Prague from 5th to 11th March. East European Forum is the biggest co-production forum in Eastern Europe. It is attended by film professionals from all over the world. The programme of East European Forum consists of pitching workshop (4th-8th March), public presentations and individual meetings with commissioning editors, distributors and film funds representatives (9-10 March).

This year 64 projects from 30 countries have been submitted to East European Forum. Eight of them have been selected to take part in the forum. „Trans-Reaction”, a Polish project by Sławomir Grunberg and Katka Reszke, has been included among the selected projects. Additionally, thirteen projects from Ex Oriente Film Workshops will be presented at the forum. There is also a Polish project among them – „Whale from Lorino” by Maciej Cuske.

„Trans-Reaction” by Sławomir Grunberg and Katka Reszke, a Polish-British-American coproduction, tells the story of Anna Grodzka – the first transgender person in the world serving as a member of the parliament. Filmmakers show the legal, medical, political and emotional path that Anna Grodzka had to walk to finalize the process of changing her gender and make her way to the Polish parliament.

In his newest Project „Whale from Lorino” Maciej Cuske observes a small community living in Lorino – a remote village situated at the end of Chukchi Peninsula. The inhabitants of Lorino, most of them indegenous Chukchi, have lost their jobs after the mines situated in Lorino surroundings have been closed. Now, one of their few activities are traditional whale hunts. Lorino is pictured from the perspective of a young boy whose grandfather tries to share with the grandson All his knowledge and memories.
