„ROGALIK” AND „BAD BOY – HIGH SECURITY CELL” AT ZAGREBDOX FILM FESTIVAL

This Sunday, February 24th, ZagrebDox Film Festival will begin. Two Polish films have been selected to take part in its competitive section: „Rogalik” by Paweł Prewencki and „Bad boy – high security cell” by Janusz Mrozowski.

Two Polish productions will take part in the International Competition of ZagrebDox Film Festival which will begin this weekend. First of them is „Rogalik” by Paweł Ziemilski, where the camera is traveling among people and objects and shows a world usually considered as ugly and unattractive. This dream-like journey is not a dream. Who are the people in this „big aquarium”?

The second film - „Bad boy – high security cell” directed by Janusz Mrozowski, takes place in Penitentiary in Tarnów. Over a period of 78 minutes, we get to know Damian, 28 years old, condemned to ten years in jail for armed bank robbery. In a frank and truthful discussion with himself and the camera of Janusz Mrozowski the protagonist reveals his troubled inner world, his doubts but also his sensitivity and understanding. In his tattooed arms he holds up a mirror that reflects our society as well as ourselves.

The films will compete for the Big Stamp Award. It worth mentioning that both films have been screened at Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival IDFA 2012 and nominated to the main IDFA award.

There are more Polish accents at this year’s edition of ZagrebDox. Marta Minorowicz, a documentary filmmaker, will form part of the jury of the International Competition. Her last film „Decrescendo” will be screened  in a non-competitive section The Jury Dox Programme. The film tells the story of the blossoming friendship between the young psychologist Tomek and patients from an old persons home, each of who bears their own touching and tragic story.

Another Polish filmmaker - Filip Antoni Malinowski the author of documentary “Resettlement” -  will take part in a workshop and pitching sessions for documentary filmmakers. He will represent his newest project „My drawn childhood”. The film will show Polish animated films that were created during the communist period in Eastern Bloc countries.
