BEYOND BORDERS AWARDS FOR POLISH FILMS

The 8th of May, the 7th edition of New York Polish Film Festival (NYPFF) came to an end. Among the winners of this year's Beyond Borders Awards there are three Polish documentaries.


Apart from fiction films - feature and short - the jury of New York Polish Film Festival awarded documentaries as well. The Prize for the Best Documentary went to Anna Ferens's 'What Can Dead Prisoners Do' and the Jury Special Mention to 'Take a Look' by Adam Palenta. The audience of the Festival appreciated Jakub Stożek’s 'Out of reach'.


This year's edition of New York Polish Film Festival was held in the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan's East Village, from May 4th to May 8th. Six feature films as well as numerous documentaries and shorts were screened with the participation of filmmakers and performers who spoke with the audience throughout the five-day event.


The festival was opened by the selection of documentaries by Krzysztof Kieslowski (the legendary director of Three Colors: Blue, White, Red), as a part of this year's 70th anniversary of his birth in the 15th anniversary of his death.
