MACIEJ ADAMEK’S “UNSPOKEN” WINS AWARD IN THE USA
“Unspoken” by Maciej Adamek has won the Best Feature Documentary Film Award at the Lighthouse Lens Film Festival in the United States. Held in New Haven, Connecticut, the festival presents independent cinema, including documentaries, fiction films and short films, with a particular focus on productions addressing important social issues.
This year’s edition of the Lighthouse Lens Film Festival took place from 4 to 7 June 2026. The American festival aims to build a community of filmmakers from around the world and to create a space for independent cinema that not only tells moving stories, but also opens up conversations about contemporary social issues, experiences and challenges.
Among this year’s award-winning titles was “Unspoken”, directed by Maciej Adamek, which received the Best Feature Documentary Film Award. It marks another international success for the documentary, whose intimate portrait of its protagonist tells a story of determination, overcoming limitations and the power of dreams that can shape an entire life.
The film follows 26-year-old Mateusz, a young man who stutters and is trying to fulfil his childhood dream: to become the Polish champion in acrobatics. Adamek observes his journey with sensitivity and empathy, showing not only his sporting ambition, but also the everyday effort of confronting his fears, body, voice and the expectations of those around him. From this seemingly individual story emerges a universal tale of courage, perseverance and the need to express oneself – even when words do not come easily.
