POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN NOVEMBER

Yet another festival month is looking very promising for Polish documentary cinema. Our productions will be screened at the Leeds International Film Festival, DOC NYC, IDFA, Docudays UA, POFF Shorts, and other places. Read on and learn where you can see our documentaries at November's film events.

Two festivals with competition screenings featuring our documentaries have begun on the first of November. At the Aesthetica Short Film Festival, you will be able to see Paweł Łoziński's The Balcony Movie, while the Balneário Camboriú International Film Festival in Brazil will screen Fat Kathy by Julia Pełka. The latter film will also visit the Glimmerglass Film Days New York, while Łoziński's film is traveling to the East by Southeast Film Festival in Denmark, the 19th Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, the FIDBA International Documentary Film Festival of Buenos Aires in Argentina, the Al Este Film Festival in Colombia, New East Cinema in Barbican London 2022 and several festivals organised by the Polish diaspora.

In addition to The Balcony Movie, one more film is looking forward to an equally good month – The Hamlet Syndrome by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski. This production will travel to DOC NYC New York's Documentary Festival, where it will be screened alongside the animated documentary Once There Was a Sea by Joanna Kożuch, to the Leeds International Film Festival alongside Light Years by Monika Proba, and then to IDFA (we wrote about this event here) and the European Film Forum SCANORAMA in Lithuania. The documentary by the directing duo will also be shown at Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

MOVE IT! Film Festival for Human Rights launches at the beginning of the month in Germany with a screening of Judges Under Pressure by Kacper Lisowski. At the end of November, those attending the Cinema Lumière – Bruge in Belgium and Festival 610 Berlin Warszawa will also get to see the film.

Another festival that starts in the first days of the month is the One World Film Festival in Slovakia. The program includes The Pawnshop by Łukasz Kowalski and Paweł Łoziński's Masks and Men, among others. Italy's Festival dei Popoli will feature a special screening of 19:91 by Emilia Śniegoska, while Slovakia's ETNOFILM International Biennial Film Festival of Documentary Ethnological Film will see The Soil by Zuzanna Solakiewicz and Zofia Kowalewska's Only The Wind compete for awards.

It is also worth taking a look at EnergaCAMERIMAGE's programme. It includes quite a few Polish productions, including documentaries.

The second half of the month looks quite promising for Wojtek Kozakiewicz. His The Way will travel to Germany for the MountainFilm Graz International Film Festival, Estonia for the POFF Shorts 2022 International Short Film and Animation Festival, and to France for the FIFMA Autrans International Mountain Film Festival.

Last Knights of the Right Side by Michał Edelman will be competing for awards at the Festival Film Dokumenter in Indonesia, while Anna Konik's Silence Heard Loud will be screened out-of-competition at the Inncontro Film Festival in Austria.
