MAGDALENA KOWALCZYK SELECTED AS CINEMATOGRAPHER FOR CANNES DOCUMENTARY

The Cannes Film Festival has just begun. The new film by Andrea Arnold will have its premiere screening there. The award-winning director invited Polish cinematographer Magdalena Kowalczyk to collaborate on her documentary “Cow”.

Cannes Film Festival is one of the most important and prestigious film events in the world. Each year, the selection committee receives a record number of submissions for each section. Thousands of talented filmmakers dream of showing their film at the Cote d'Azur.

The film tells the life story of two dairy cows. The production took six years to make. The camera follows both protagonists, showing the challenges they face every day and the emotions they experience in everyday situations. “Cow” also acts as a reminder about the special role cows play in our lives and shows the exceptional beauty of these animals.

Magdalena Kowalczyk is a graduate of the Documentary Course at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. As a cinematographer, she worked on nearly thirty student shorts and documentaries, including “Viva Maria!” by Agnieszka Smoczyńska, “Letters to A.” by Wiktoria Szymańska, “A Stranger on My Couch” by Grzegorz Brzozowski, or “Tonia and Her Children” by Marcel Łoziński.

You can learn more about the film on the festival's official website.
