"PURE ART" AWARDED IN RUSSIA

At the festival ArtDoc Fest, which ended this weekend, the Polish-Belarusian co-production "Pure Art" was appreciated. The best director award went to its author, Maksim Shved.

The ArtDoc Fest is the largest festival wholly dedicated to documentary films in Russia. The event takes place in three large cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. The programme of the festival is very rich, every selected film has a minimum of five screenings guaranteed, without distinguishing between competition and non-competing films.

This year, the film "Pure Art," directed by Maksim Shved, was invited to the competition section. The documentary film left the festival with the best director award.

The film tells the story about contemporary Belarus, freedom and art. A mysterious artist appears on the streets of Minsk, spreads his canvas and starts to paint. With his brush, he paints enigmatic rectangles and squares. Intrigued passers-by ask him what he is painting, but the artist does not reveal his secret. Step by step, we get to know him better. This is Zahar Cudin, one of the most promising Belarusian painters. What is concealed in his paintings? The solution to the puzzle will be a great surprise...
