FESTIVALS IN OCTOBER

October is full of film festivals at which Polish productions are not missing. This month, Polish documentary films will be shown, among others, at DocumentArt in Germany, Hot Springs in the USA and DocsDF in Mexico.

At the very beginning of the month, the Austrian festival Let’s Cee will show "The Queen of Silence" by Agnieszka Zwiefka and "Call Me Marianna" by Karolina Bielawska. In the first weeks of the month, the latter will also appear at the Filmfest Hamburg, the Mix Copenhagen festival in Denmark, fARAD in Romania, Chicago Film Festival and at CinEast Film Festival. In Luxembourg, the viewers will also see "Warsaw Uprising" by Jan Komasa, "Brothers" by Wojciech Staroń, "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński and "The End of the World" by Monika Pawluczuk.

In the first days of October, the Assim Vivemos festival was held in Brazil, where "Deep Love" by Jan P. Matuszyński was shown, whereas at the Apricot Tree festival, in the short documentary film competition "When I am a Bird" by Monika Pawluczuk and "The Shepherd's Song" by Vahram Mkhitaryan competed. Polish documentary films appeared also at the children's and teenagers' film festival in Slovenia, where the film "The princess and the wall" by Małgorzata Kozera-Topińska was shown.

At the German Eberswalde festival, the audience will watch "Abu Haraz" by Maciej Drygas, and at the Croatian Dokuart - "Leaders" by Paweł Ferdek, there will also be documentary film screening at the International Human Rights Documentary Festival in Lithuania.

 In Romania, "Super Unit" will be present at the Astra Film Festival . The documentary film by Teresa Czepiec will also be shown in Rotterdam at the Architecture Film Festival, in the USA at the Laughlin Film Festiwal, in Spanish Granada and at the DokumentArt European Film Festival. In Germany, at the DokumentArt, "The Shepherd's Song, "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak and "Object" by Paulina Skibińska will also compete for the awards.  The last of the aforementioned films will also appear at the festival in Hamptons in the USA, at the International Film Festival in Riga, together with "Rogalik" by Paweł Ziemilski, it will be shown at the Uppsala Short Film Festival in Sweden, and together with "The Place" by Julia Popławska, it will participate in the screening at the Italian festival Cinemambiente.

"The Place" is also invited to the competition at the International Mountain Film Festival in Poprad, Slovakia, and at the German Tegernsee festival, as well as to the Imagine Science festival in the USA. It will also appear at DocsDF, together with "Casa Blanca" by Aleksandra Maciuszek and in the USA at the Hot Springs festival together with "Starting Point" and "The End of the World."

October is also a good month for "Knife in the Wife" by Vita Maria Drygas. The documentary film was included in the programme of the French Nice Short Film Festival, Belgian "Les Enfants Terribles" and Tangier International Film Festival in Morocco. Also in Morocco, but at Europe Oriente Documentary Film Festival, "Left Side of the Face" by Marcin Bortkiewicz will be shown. At the short film festival Thess in Greece, one will see "Our Curse," and in Switzerland, at Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival - "For Being Alive" by Tomasz Nuzban.

In the second half of the month, at Ânûû-rû Âboro in New Caledonia, the audience will watch "Walking Under Water" by Eliza Kubarska, "It's Only A Dream" by Jakub Michnikowski and "Cotton Dreams" by Sandeep Rampal Balhara. In Turkey, at the Bozcaada International Festival of Ecological Documentary, "Dream of San Juan" by Jan Paweł Trzaska and Joaquin del Paso will be shown, whereas at the Wandering Reel Travelling Film Festival - "House on its Head" by Adam Palenta.

On October 31 start two festivals on which one can watch Polish documentary films. The first one is BANFF Mountain Film and Book Festival in Canada, where "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański starts in the competition. The second one is Spanish festival Miradas Doc, at which six Polish productions will appear: "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak, 'It's Only A Dream" by Jakub Michnikowski, "W. Sisters' Beauty Salon" by Jakub Stożek, "A Promise of Childhood" by Piotr Morawski and Ryszard Kaczyński, "Super Unit" and "The Shepherd's Song."
