NEXT AMERICAN AWARD FOR „ENTANGLED”

The film “Entangled” by Lidia Duda has won the Silver Hugo Award in the TV Competition of the Chicago International Film Festival. “In the eye of God” by Grzegorz Królikowski has received a Certificate of Merit.

Lidia Duda’s film „Entangled” produced by Telemark and TVP 2 has recently had a run of luck. In the mid-April the film received The Silver World Medal at New York Film Festivals and last Tuesday, on April 23rd, it has been awarded with the Silver Hugo prize in the TV Competition of the Chicago International Film Festival in the “Documentary: Social / Political” category.

“Entangled” deals with the problem of pedophilia in case of which  the definition of the perpetrator and the victim is not crystal clear. This unambiguous relationship may, however, become blurry after some time. As a child, the film character was abused by his neighbor. Later, as a teenager, he tried to take revenge on him twice. The roles are now reversed: the pedophile is afraid of his victim. This mutual dependence, which lasted ten years, is presented from the perspective of the closest persons to both men. The story based on hatred and fear seems to have no end.

The film “In the eye of God” by Grzegorz Królikowski has received a Certificate of Merit in the “Documentary: History / Biography” category. It is a portrait of Krzysztof Miller, a Polish war reporter and photographer who has been present at all the biggest military conflicts of recent years and now has to fight against the post-war trauma.

Chicago International Film Festival is the oldest competitive film festival in North America. It has been organized regularly since 1964 and will celebrate its 49th edition in October this year. The TV Awards Gala of the festival takes place each spring and is considered one of the most important TV events in the US.

More information about the festival can be found at its website.
