POLISH PROJECT AT WHEN EAST MEETS WEST

Only 21 projects, including one from Poland, have qualified for this year's edition of When East Meets West, a co-production forum held in Trieste. The documentary “King Matt the First” by Jaśmina Wójcik and produced by PINOT FILMS is going to be featured as part of the event.

When East Meets West is a co-production forum organised by the Trieste Film Festival and the Italian FVG Audiovisual Fund. It is a meeting place for filmmakers from various parts of Europe and the world, providing an opportunity for international cooperation. The forum is attended by institutions financing film production, decision-makers from film festivals and TV stations, and features projects selected during the application process.

One of the qualifying projects is “King Matt the First” – directed by Jaśmina Wójcik and produced by Agnieszka Roztropowicz-Rutkowska from PINOT FILMS. The protagonists of the documentary are sisters Zoja and Lea. The girls are fascinated by Janusz Korczak's book “King Matt the First”, which tells about a kingdom ruled by children. They boldly explore the nature that surrounds them, while enacting scenes from the book. Thanks to them, viewers get to know a world where children are given agency.
