Shame is paralysing and drives people to seek refuge in half-truths, which can sometimes make once close family members drift apart. Kasia is studying at a prestigious French school for future master chefs, whilst her father, Otar, runs a restaurant in Poland serving Georgian specialities. When the girl is expelled from the elite course, she returns home but does not reveal the cause of her sudden arrival to her father. Nor does he tell her about the financial difficulties his restaurant has recently faced. Neither of them wants to admit defeat. By hiding the truth, they are putting up unnecessary barriers between each other.
