“Yodok stories” by Andrzej Fidyk will be shown in the competition “In the Spirit of Freedom” at Jerusalem Film Festival, which starts 9th July 2009 in Israel. This is not the only one Polish accent at this festival – Katarzyna Klimkiewicz’ s film “Nothing to lose” which was made within the frames of documentary workshops “Israel – Poland. A New Gaze”, will be shown to Israeli viewers in the section “Documentary films”.
Klimkiewicz’s documentary shows a story of an Israeli couple, Sahara and Or who travel across the country with their child and all their belongings. On the way, here and there, they earn small amounts of money, visit their friends and learn new things. During the trip we can observe the colorful personalities of the protagonists, and understand why they have deliberately chosen the fate of homeless wanderers.
The documentary’s director is a graduate of The National Film School in Łódź. She received Berlin Today Award at Berlinale 2007, for “Wasserschlach — The Great Border Battle” of which she was the director together with Andrew Friedman.
During the film workshops “Israel – Poland. A New Gaze”, young Israeli artists were working on documentaries about Poland, while their Polish colleagues were looking on the life in Israel. The presentation of the film and the entire New Look project will take place in Jerusalem Film Library, on 16th July at 8 p.m.
