“SILENT LOVE” NAMED BEST DOCUMENTARY

It wasn't just Alisa Kovalenko's film that stole the hearts of the jurors at the Crossing Europe Filmfestival Linz, but both films were recognised as the best documentaries at this Austrian event.

Crossing Europe Filmfestival Linz is a film event held every April since 2004 in Linz, Switzerland. The festival's programmers place a strong emphasis on contemporary European productions, especially ones that tackle socio-political issues. The program includes both premiere films and productions that have already managed to impress international festival audiences.

Silent Love is a subtle and tender story about the strength of family; about taking on new roles and redefining old ones; about the fact that having the courage to love requires facing our fears.

After the death of her mother, 35-year-old Agnieszka decides to take care of her teenage brother Miłosz. She takes on the role of both his mum and dad. She has to prove to the court and officials that she is fit to become a legal guardian for her brother. However, there is something she hides from him – it is her long-term relationship with Maja. A new, unconventional family blossoms before our eyes in a small, conservative Polish village.
