POLISH SHORT FILMS NOMINATED FOR THE SILVER EYE AWARD
The list of 20 titles whose producers have a shot at receiving a Silver Eye award has been announced. There are three Polish films among the selected productions. The winners of the 13th edition will traditionally be announced during this year's festival in Jihlava.
The Silver Eye is a unique distinction among other film awards as it's awarded to film producers instead of directors. The award is intended to support the promotion and foreign distribution of the winning film. The films participating in the fair are divided into three runtime categories – short, medium, and long. In addition to the trophy, winners receive a cash prize and one year's representation of the film by the East Silver Caravan, which means the winning film will be promoted at over 130 of the world's most important film festivals and fairs.
This year, producers of three Polish short films have a chance to win the trophy – I'm Here by Julia Orlik and Once Upon a Time in Israel by Weronika Szyma both produced by Łódź Film School, and Solar Voyage by Adam Żądło, which was produced at Munk Studio under the direction of Jerzy Kapuściński and Ewa Jastrzębska.
The winners will be selected by a three-person jury consisting of Marija Milovanović (Vienna Independent Shorts, Head of International Competition Fiction & Documentary), Lenka Tyrpáková (Pragueshorts Film Festival, Programmer), and Emilia Mazik (Short Waves Festival, Festival Director).
