"DAM" AWARDED IN FRANCE

The documentary film by Natalia Koniarz was chosen as the best film of the New Talent competition section at the FIPADOC festival.

FIPADOC is an international documentary film festival, held in Biarritz, France. During the six-day event, the screenings of the most interesting documentary films of the recent months as well as numerous meetings with film-makers are in store for the audience.

In the award-winning "Dam," a father and a son meet on a journey. They want to spend some time together after they had cut off all contact with each other sometime before. However, it is not a carefree weekend in a cottage in the Bieszczady Mountains. The drunk father asks his son rhetorically: "So what, you'd thought it was going to be easy?" Building the eponymous dam on a mountain stream can be interpreted in terms of struggling with one's weaknesses, a joint effort directed against prejudices and mutual grievances. In the pool created in this way, one can find purification and (temporary) relief.

This year's edition of the festival was held from the 21st to the 26th of January.
