“CHEMO” NOMINATED FOR GRAND PRIX AT THE PARNU FILM FESTIVAL

On 11TH July, the 24th edi­tion of the Inter­na­tional Film Fest­ival in Pärnu, Esto­nia, began. In the com­pet­i­tion pro­gram there are seven Pol­ish doc­u­ment­ar­ies, among them “Chemo” by Paweł Łoziński, nom­in­ated for the Grand Prix, that is, the main prize of the fest­ival given by the inter­na­tional jury. 

The film fest­ival in Pärnu, organ­ized since 1987, is the old­est and largest fest­ival in Esto­nia, pro­mot­ing only doc­u­ment­ary cinema – but diverse and vivid them­at­ic­ally. For sev­eral years, Pol­ish films have been present at the fest­ival. Even more, some of them got the highest laurel given by the inter­na­tional jury, the Grand Prix, among oth­ers, in 2008 – “Gugara” by Andrzej Dyb­czak and Jacek Nagłowski, in 2007 – “The Seeds” by Woj­ciech Kasper­ski, and in 2002 – “I will not leave you until I die” by Maciej Adamek.

At this year’s fest­ival in Pärnu, “Chemo” by Paweł Łoziński is among three films nom­in­ated to the Grand Prix. Apart from the Pol­ish rep­res­ent­at­ive, the fol­low­ing films will com­pete for the award: Finnish “Stream of Life” by Joo­nas Berghäll and Mika Hotakainen and “The Fam­ily Ensamble” by Wilko Bello from the Neth­er­lands. The decision con­cern­ing the win­ner of the award will be announced on Sunday, 18th July, dur­ing the clos­ing cere­mony.

In addi­tion, the fol­low­ing six Pol­ish doc­u­ment­ar­ies will be shown at the Esto­nian fest­ival, tak­ing part in the com­pet­i­tion pro­gram:
