Meet­Mar­ket is the pitch­ing ini­ti­at­ive at Shef­field Doc/​Fest, that will take place from 3^th to 7^th Novem­ber, and is designed to match doc­u­ment­ary makers’ most innov­at­ive pro­ject ideas with UK and inter­na­tional buyers.

Meet­Mar­ket is based on an ori­ginal ini­ti­at­ive of the Aus­tralian Film Com­mis­sion (AFC) and The Aus­tralian Inter­na­tional Doc­u­ment­ary Con­fer­ence (AIDC), and belongs to one of the main events accom­pa­ny­ing Shef­field Doc/​Fest.

How the pro­jects will be selec­ted? Buy­ers view online one-​minute pitch teas­ers of innov­at­ive doc­u­ment­ary ideas, along with short syn­opses, bio­graph­ical inform­a­tion and head­line budget fig­ures, in advance of Doc/​Fest. From this, they select which pro­jects they would like to dis­cuss in one-​to-​one meet­ings at Meet­Mar­ket. 

This year the par­ti­cip­a­tion already con­firmed over 70 fun­ders and decision-​makers includ­ing BBC, Chan­nel 4, ITV, Five, Arte France, ARTE ZDF Irish Film Board, RTE, VPRO, TRT, Gucci Tribeca Film Fund, PBS, Sund­ance Insti­tute, ETV, DR TV, YLE, TG4, ICA Films, Dog­woof, Soda Pic­tures, and AVRO. They rep­res­ent cre­at­ive doc­u­ment­ary, sci­ence, his­tory, arts, the­at­rical, online and broad­cast dis­tri­bu­tion, sales agents, inter­act­ive media, and more bey­ond.

Pro­jects can be at any stage of devel­op­ment and cross-​platform pro­jects are also very wel­come.

The call for applic­a­tions for the 2010 Meet­Mar­ket at Shef­field Doc/​Fest is now open online for 3 months until Wed­nes­day 1 Septem­ber. An admin­is­tra­tion fee of £10 plus VAT will apply per pro­ject in 2010.
