World Fest-​Houston Inde­pend­ent Inter­na­tional Film Fest­ival took place from 9 – 18 April. Two Pol­ish doc­u­ment­ar­ies and one fea­ture film were hon­oured with awards dur­ing the clos­ing cere­mony of the Amer­ican film event.

The Plat­inum Remi Award went to Małgorzata Bieńkowska-​Buehlmann for the film “Exit”. This doc­u­ment­ary presents the story of Ger­man refugees who, after 1989, came to the Embassy of the Fed­eral Repub­lic of Ger­many in Warsaw and for the first time pub­licly talked about their lives on the east­ern side of the Ber­lin Wall.

Even more, Jacek Petrycki got the Bronze Remi Award for “A City without God”, a tale about NowaHuta, “a city without God”, para­dox­ic­ally the place of the greatest struggle for the faith and for build­ing churches.

The Spe­cial Jury Award went to Rysz­ard Bugajski for “Gen­eral Nil”.
