Marcin Sauter’s film “Behind the Fence” is on the list of ten best recent short-length films promoted by L’Agence du Court Metrage in France.
L’Agence du Court Metrage was founded in
1983 by a group of film professionals – directors, producers and distributors. Their aim is to improve the documentary film market, by promoting the films on international scale, as well as enabling cooperation between film-makers and distributors.
L’Agence du Court Metrage created a programme made of
10 best documentaries of recent years, under the common name:

From
2010, during the next three years the French L’Agence du Court Metrage will be promoting the best ten films, including the one by the Polish director.
Marcin Sauter graduated from the Documentary Course at Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. Earlier he studied photography at Polish National Film, Television and Theater School in Lodz and worked for four years as a press photographer for Gazeta Wyborcza daily. With
Maciej Cuske, he shot an hour-length feature film „I co wy na to, Gałuszko?” (
2001). In
2005 his début documentary film “
Behind the Fence” was given the prize for the best photography at the
45th Krakow Film Festival. His début film received the best prizes also at the European film schools festivals in London and Vilnius, as well as the first prize at the prestigious documentary film contest Cinema du Reel in Paris. He got the Silver Dragon award at the
46th Krakow Film Festival for his next film “
The Travelling Cinema.” Within the frames of “Russia – Poland. A New Gaze” project he made the film “
The First Day” which received several awards at international festivals. He is the co-founder of the Paladino Film Group, the group of young, creative documentarists, connected with the Wajda School. Together they made the documentary “
Andrzej Wajda: Let’s Shoot!”. In
2009 Sauter made a docudrama called “
South from Kalabria.”
