POLISH DOCUMENTARY-FILMMAKERS IN HELSINKI

At the recently-​launched doc­u­ment­ary film fest­ival Doc­point in Hel­sinki there are Pol­ish accents. Every day of the fest­ival, you can watch Pol­ish films and dis­cuss the Pol­ish cinema with its creators.

Apart from French doc­u­ment­ary film maker Nich­olas Phil­libert, this year Mar­cel Łoziński is the festival’s spe­cial guest. Dur­ing two days, the Finnish audi­ence will have an oppor­tun­ity to get acquain­ted with his cre­at­ive works, as well as learn more about the artist’s work­shop dur­ing the mas­ter class sched­uled for Thursday. There will be screen­ings of the most fam­ous films by Łoziński from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s till “Poste Rest­ante”, recently given the European Film Award. 

In addi­tion to that, the organ­izers of the fest­ival, in cooper­a­tion with Krakow Film Found­a­tion, pre­pared a wide ret­ro­spect­ive of the brand-​new Pol­ish doc­u­ment­ary cinema, to be shown at this year’s fest­ival. The fest­ival audi­ence will have a chance to see “Hear Me Cry” by Maciej Dry­gas, “Our Street” by Mar­cin Latałło, “The Second Hand Book­store” and III. Remem­ber the Sab­bath Day to Keep it Holy” by Maciej Cuske, “The Clinic” and “The Lucky Ones” by Tomek Wol­ski, “Chemo” by Paweł Łoziński, “Mother” by Jakub Piątek and “Sen­tenced for Life” by Mar­cin Kosz­a­łka. The last four artists, present in Hel­sinki, will talk about their cre­at­ive work dur­ing the meet­ings within the cycle “Meet the Dir­ect­ors.”
