Wajda Film School combines teaching with film production – of documentaries as well as feature-films – actively supporting young, talented authors. It operates on the principle “from the idea to production”: the course participants shoot their own films. It offers artistic and production care at every stage of the film production, provides optimal conditions for creative work and contact with the most important people of today’s world cinematography. Wajda’s School works also as an independent production company – making the débutantes’ and young professionals’ films. At the 2008 Krakow Film Festival the School received the Best Short-Length and Documentary Film Producer Award.

The School has produced several dozens of documentary films, which have been shown at over 300 festivals (among others, at Berlinale, Cannes, IDFA, DOKLeipzig, Clermont-Ferrand) and frequently received awards: Grand Prix at the 2008 Aye Aye Film Festival in France (“Gandjo” by Kryspin Pluta), the Best Documentary and the Audience’s Award at 2008 GoEast Wiesbaden in Gemany (“By the River” by Magdalena Kowalczyk), the Best Documentary Award at the 2007 Curta Cinema International Short Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro (“At the datcha” by Thierry Paladino), Grand Prix at 2005 Cinema du Reel in Paris (“Behind the Fence” by Marcin Sauter).

Among the lecturers and artistic tutors there are the most famous and most experienced film-makers, among others: Marcel Łoziński, Jacek Bławut, Vita Żelakeviciute, Andrzej Titkow.
