In 1998 Wojciech Staroń made The Siberian Lesson, a documentary about a young teacher who goes to live in the lake Baikal area to teach Polish to the descendants of Polish exiles. Many years later, already married and with two children, the director and his film character go to Argentina. For their son, the trip is an encounter with a new language. Assisted by his Argentinean friend, little Janek will enter the fascinating world of games but also discover the bitter taste of childhood, prematurely tainted with the adults’ problems, he has not known about so far.
